Mémé K7 is a hybrid orchestra weaving lo-fi experiments around a repertoire of 20th-century women’s songs from Lower Brittany — somewhere between tribute and futuristic projection.

Mémé K7 is a hybrid orchestra of 10 musicians led by violinist Pierre Droual, embarking on a bold project that both extends and reimagines ancient women’s songs from Lower Brittany.
Blending acoustic and electric sounds, written composition and improvisation, the collective cuts, distorts, and re-stitches archival field recordings to draw out new, raw energy.
The modal repertoire of female singers from 20th-century Lower Brittany (including Katrin Guern, Julienne Juguet, Marie Goavec, and others) provides the raw material for a powerful, stirring, and radical musical creation.

Long-form pieces intertwining gwerzioù, dances, and walking or table songs come together in a live performance that is both tender and radical, hitting the road starting spring 2025.

Throughout its creative process, the collective has drawn on 20 years of pedagogical tradition, as well as the insight and mentorship of renowned artists such as Erik Marchand & Youenn Lange (Brittany), Iyad Haimour and Climène Zarkan (Syria), Rusan Filiztek (Kurdistan), Arnau Obiols (Catalonia), Sakina Abdou, Pauline Willerval, Sourdure (Massif Central), Romain Baudoin (Béarn), and Perrine Bourel (Dauphiné).
